I always knew my daughter had a cleft chin. I never thought about the possibility before she was born, and honestly, never really noticed it once she was out. However, it seemed to be one of those features that people saw immediately, instantaneously asking, “Who in the family has a cleft chin?”
My husband has one- it is something that bothered him when he was much younger, but didn’t phase him once past puberty. Though noticeable, it’s certainly something that never bothered me. In fact, I find it endearing and sweet; a little characteristic that makes him different and a little boyish.
Now that “Birdie” is a bit older, a bit more settled into herself, our schedule slightly more set, our nights somewhat smoother, it crossed my mind: WHAT is this little person going to look like?
