window shopping for the idyllic family situation

So, recently I posted a note on garden moms, saying how sad it is that my baby has no friends.
I walk along the streets, parks and playgrounds of Boston and I see happy moms and dads chatting away with each other, their children playing so nicely side by side (or bite/hit/cry)

I imagine these people have partners who are also friends and how they have lovely get together in the weekends, doing things together as families, the children have friends that they love and the grown ups have someone to talk to and relate to...

How does that happen? My husband and I moved here from Europe, we met some great people who are all singles, young and just great. They are so lovely and super supportive of our new situation, I love them and hanging out with them, but they are not or far away from being in the same situation...

Had I been in Sweden or London I would not have had this on my mind, over there since I had been living there for a long time and worked there I knew people in all types of stages in life.

I missed all the new moms classes, I missed all the prenatal classes and now I'm working again as a nanny and I love love love my job but I have no co workers, I care for one amazing little girl, but I can't help but feeling lonely...

So now I worry that my baby is going to be lonely too, will no one come to her first birthday party, will she have no one to play with, share her first cake with, will there be no pictures that she can look at when she's older? All her family live far far away, and even though my lovely friends will surely come to be there for her and us I wish that I had a little bit of that thing that other families seem to have, some one to relate to, someone to share this with, who can understand what is going on, did we miss out on the whole bonding thing?...

Living abroad is a great way of learning about life, culture and meet new and great people.
We always hear how lucky we are that can travel and work all over the world, but we miss out on so much too...

  1. Hi ! I'm a new mom from Europe living in Boston too ! I'm always looking for play-date and sharing with other moms. My little girl is 7 month, maybe we could meet ?
