I have no love for Halloween

Halloween is a silly holiday. I am sure I could do some research on why kids dress up in costume and go door to door begging for candy from strangers, but I don't feel like it, so I will just play dumb and continue my rant...

When you are little you are over the moon (well some kids are) about dressing up in costume and getting candy from strangers. And then when you are older it isn't so much about the candy as it is an excuse to dress up as "Slutty (fill in the blank)" go out with my friends and get drunk and dance the night away. Those were the days.

But, isn't it such a weird concept and holiday?? I have a girlfriend that loves all things Halloween with a passion. In fact she had both of her children very close to Halloween so each year they have a great costume party for the both of them. I think she might have actually planned her pregnancies so this could happen...no not really...well, maybe!

Halloween is not my thing though. I don't like to be scared, I don't like the decorations that come with Halloween, and at my age (and current state of my blubbery body) I have no business dressing up in anything but a trash bag.

It wasn't until this morning that I realized I didn't have any candy to give out to the little buggers that will be coming to my door tonight, so I had to run to Costco and get a super bag of candy. Of course I get the one that has the kinds I like - Reese's cups, M&Ms, etc.. And OF COURSE, I had to sample some of the candy inside of it before giving it to the kids. And by "some" I mean about 10 pieces now, and have since gotten an awesome stomach ache. Damn you Halloween and your necessary candy buying!! I should have gotten that bag that had the Dots and other assorted Brach's candies.

But at least tomorrow will mean that Thanksgiving and Christmas are next in the line-up!! Those are my jams. I love any holiday that revolves around a feast and presents, and time with family...oh and booze. Bring on the Egg Nogs and Cap'n Morgans. Last Christmas season I was pregnant and couldn't drink so I plan to do more than make up for it this year!!
