It's a Chicos kind of day

I have become an old lady as of late. And the proof...I went shopping for an outfit to wear to my 10 year college reunion this past weekend...and ended up in Chicos. And I liked many things in the store!! Chicos??!! The place that my friends and I have made fun of for the past 15 years actually appeals to me? Did they change their clothing designs? Or am I just getting older? I think it is the latter. But that isn't the only evidence that I will soon be lounging on the lanai with my three besties in the near future (pour a little out for our latest fallen Golden Girl Blanche!)...

I have been in bed by 9 every night for the last few weeks, and up with the sun. Yes, I have a 6 month old and I get up when she gets up, but I actually enjoy going to bed early, and waking up at the crack of dawn.

My tastes in things have been changing too. I used to love fashion magazines and gossip rags, but now I wait with bated breath for my New York Magazine, The Atlantic and Entertainment Weekly to come in the mail (I had to use frequent flier miles for magazine so now we get - no joke - 15 different mags).

I like tomatoes on sandwiches!! Not sure if that has anything to do with this, but it is a recent change in tastes.

I, the social butterfly of my college group of friends, actually let a sinus infection get me down this weekend, and I stayed in on Saturday night, instead of going out and catching up with my classmates at my reunion. And you know what? I was fine with the decision. If you asked me 10 years ago if I would have missed my college reunion because of a cold I would have slapped you in the face for saying such blasphemous things! Granted I was sicker than I have been in a very long time, but back in the day that wouldn't have stopped me from getting all hooched up and throwing some brew-dogs back with my peeps (who talks like that? Me 10 years ago :). 2000 me would call 2010 me "lame."

And you know what else I am fine with? Being lame! Becoming an old lady is fine by me. I like being a mom, living in the burbs, saving for a fence instead of going out to nice dinners, going to bed early and waking up with the birds, keeping a neat house and making dinner for my husband when he comes home from work, having game night with my friends instead of going out to a bar (well, this has been going on for the last 10 years)...I love my life!

I do have to add that I am not alone on the young-old lady voyage: one of my fellow Mamas admitted that she actually asked a store clerk in a large NYC store to turn the music down because her baby was trying to nap....sure, blame it on the baby!

  2. Brazil and Argentina are blood rivals, and they could meet in the semifinals. How about a Denmark Sweden semi, in a battle for Scandinavian supremacy? An England France final would settle some scores. A Spain Portugal rematch is worth cheering for, too the teams played to a 3 3 tie in the group stage, with Cristiano Ronaldo putting up a hat trick for Portugal.
