Mama Likes Her Booze

When I was little I don't ever remember my parents drinking in front of me...I vaguely remember my mother having a glass of wine, and my dad indulging in a beer occasionally when we were in high school. I don't know if it is a generational thing, or because I went to college and lived in a city for 15 years and went out a lot, but I like to have a drink, or two, or three if it is a good night.

Now, let's get this out of the way - I don't drink every night. Probably 2-3 nights a week I will indulge in a glass of wine or two nowadays. Possibly a cocktail here and there when I go out with friends (which at this age is just to dinner and home asleep by 11 at the latest). I am not an alcoholic, nor am I anywhere near being an alcoholic (although my mom would beg to differ after each family vacation together).

I am not ashamed to say that I like my booze. I love to sit and have a glass of wine while catching up on my tv at night. I love to have an afternoon cocktail on the weekends when my husband is off work. I love to have a mimosa at brunch. I am especially excited that it is starting to warm up so I can start making jugs of sangria, and skinny girl margaritas (not from bottle - yuck- but a home-made version) and sit outside in the evening and watch the sun set with my boo.

And I am not alone. I know all my close Mama friends feel the same way...booze is our friend. Sometimes you have one of those days when your kid drives you to drink. You finish the day covered in your kids dinner, you haven't showered yet, you can't get that annoying theme song to your kids favorite show out of your head, you haven't seen your husband in the daylight in 3 days, the only food you have eaten all day is the leftovers from your daughters grilled cheese at lunch...you need a glass of wine...and last night's Real Housewives of whatever.

Cheers!

But that the way the world is now.how people who aren at the event can sort of feel like they there.
