The Bachelor: Mama's Monday Night Escape

Is anyone else out there following The Bachelor this season? Anyone? Come on, Mamas, admit it. I can't be the only one.

Bachelor Sean wants to know if you'll accept this rose
Ok, so some of you are still denying it. A few of you are going so far as to insisting that you don't know what I'm talking about. So (wink, wink) let me fill you in. The Bachelor is a reality TV show where one man "dates" twenty-five women and chooses one in the end to plan to dump off-camera propose to. Along the way, they share typical getting-to-know-you experiences, like taking helicopters to desert islands and catapulting themselves off of buildings. Oh, and they do a lot of hot tubbing, and they all look fantastic in their bathing suits. In a nutshell, it's the guiltiest of guilty pleasures.

This season's bachelor is Sean, one of the runners-up from last season's The Bachelorette. Which, as you may have guessed (because you're still refusing to admit that you're a fan!) is the same show with the genders reversed. (25 eligible men x 6-pack abs = Even better show). Anyway, Sean wasn't chosen by Bachelorette Emily because, well, he's kind of boring. Very nice, very good-looking, but boring.

So I kind of thought Sean's season of the Bachelor would also be a snoozer. Of course, I still watched faithfully, just for the heck of it, and happily, am still quite entertained. There have been enough crazies (Tierra!), weirdos (AshLee! yes, that's how you spell it), and catfights (Tierra vs. AshLee!) to keep Bachelor fans satisfied. Sean has even proven to have a bit of a personality, especially when he takes his shirt off.

Anyway, what's the point, besides that I need to get out more? The point is we all need an escape, a chance to tune out the day and tune in to something completely indulgent and selfish. Especially us hard-working Mamas, who rarely have a second to ourselves. For some of us, it's yoga. For some, it's a hot bath and a glass of wine. And for some, it's The Bachelor.

Oh, and it's on tonight... as if you didn't know.
